It is not a secret that this year has changed most, if not all, of our daily comforts and routines. Who would have thought that a facemask would be on your mental list of things to grab before you run out the door or that the school year would look drastically different for your kids? As you adjust to these new changes, we want to make adjustments with you. Our goal as a company has always been to provide hope and support to you and this year is no exception to that goal. Many of you have used Revibe Connect mainly in the classroom, so we want to share with you the best ways to use the device virtually!
Set a Schedule
For those of you who might be new to the Revibe Family, we highly recommend that you set up a schedule for your child on the Revibe Connect App. This feature will allow you to set the blocks of time in which you would like the device to send vibration reminders and track focus information. You may be asking yourself, “Why should I set up a schedule if my child is not actually in school?” A schedule develops a routine, and even loose routines are important for a child during this time. A routine can bring a sense of security back into your home when everything outside of it feels chaotic.
As we know that class times for your child may not look like they used to, this schedule will allow for extracurricular activities as well. These activities can include art projects, virtual games, chores, walks outside, or whatever else you would like to include. If you are not sure what to include in your schedule, we’ve got you! Please check out these free, educational resources for students at home during COVID-19 for more suggestions.
Understand Vibration Modes
There are several different vibration modes in which the Revibe Device will work to remind your student to stay on task:
- Adapt - Learns the user’s needs and adjusts the frequency and intensity of prompts accordingly.
- Homework - Prompts about every 3 minutes for 15 minutes of working, then cues for a 5 minute break.
- Low (Mildly Off-task) - Prompts at an average of 10 minutes.
- Medium (Moderately Off-task) - Prompts at an average of 7 minutes.
- High (Significantly Off-task) - Prompts at an average of 4 minutes.
- Off - Turns off prompts, but the clock still functions and steps are tracked.
Every user is different, so we recommend testing each mode to see which works best for your child. This mode can be changed at any point and will be displayed under the time on the device itself. These different vibration modes will allow your child to take control of their focus and attention at home by prompting them to ask themselves if they are on task.
Utilize Text Reminders
Whether you are home with your student or not, text reminders are a great way to boost morale! By scheduling preset visual messages, your student will have that extra reminder or an encouraging message to brighten their day. This feature also promotes independence — instead of a parent tapping the child's shoulder or verbally reminding them to switch subjects, do a chore, or even take a break, this feature allows the student to view the customized reminder and complete the task themselves.
Watch Your Child Succeed!
After a schedule is created, a mode has been chosen, and text reminders have been added, remember to sync your device daily to watch your child's focus and attention improve! Once you sync the device at the end of the day, the device will calculate your child’s daily focus rate, response rate, attention span, fidgets, steps, and calories on the home dashboard of the app. Our app will also provide you with personalized insights on how to improve focus based on the user’s results!
In this time full of unknowns, we want you to know how well your child is able to focus and feel supported in the process. We are still here for you!
